Victoria 2k

Over the Christmas break y2k I went to stay with my friend Portia (aka danilady & others) and fairly shortly before I went down we raised the topic of having another costumed sleep-over (our first sleep over also involved cosplay, you can see more about that here), only this time with full costumes since she'd now completed her first costume, and I had yet to see it... For some strange reason (I honestly can not pin-point if I was bored, fickle, or just stupid) I decided if we were going to do so I wanted to have a new costume for it too... I decided on Victoria because, well, I had a matter of days to throw it together and the majority of it was done on the day before and the night of... Victoria doesn't take much time-consuming colouring ;)

Wig - Again (as in "Crazy Cat" 2k) I used the broadway Victoria wig for this costume... It's really made for a head much smaller than mine, as is shown in that i *just* covers the hairline around my face, & even with a wig cap lil bits of hair still show through at the bottom of the back... But its a nifty wig, and with a little styling looks very Vicki :)

Unitard & shoes - These were both parts I was intending to later use for my Bombalurina '2k1 Costume which is why the Unitard didn't get any more vicki-ization than the white shoulder fluffies... I wanted to do the light brown/gold hatching but didn't want it to ruin a potential later Bombalurina unitard... The shoes had not yet been alterred, so I wore white socks under them to hide what the warmers didn't.

Warmers - These're 4 fairly basic tubes sewn from fuzzly craft felt... They looked pretty good for being made in a haf hour pinch ;) First I sewed a tube long enough to fit around my calf/lower arm, & wide enough, when flatternned, to cover the length I would need the finished warmer to be... I then sewed the open ends of the "tube" (really a double layer pf felt but with nicer edges) together o make the desired warmer-tube. I had to use yarn for foot stirrups cuz we couldn't find elastic ;)

Tail - This tail was made with the basic method and used white acrylic & wool yarn.. I started making it, and as we watched movies & sat around talking pre-cosplay, while I worked on the unitard's shoulder fluffies Portia took over tail- construction, so round of applause for portia :D

Make up - This make up was done "on the fly" from the teeeensy pictures in one of the advertising CATs broadway fliers. It considts of white cake base, warm-rose blush for the pink highlights, pink-peach shimmer lipstick, and a black eyeliner pencil for the details... On a further note about the pencil, I ad first switched from liner-pencils to cream-paints & detail brushes because you get a much nicer, stark black line than what I'd been able to acheive with the pencils i'd found, but the control with the brushes over the width and direction of lines i sometimes found lacking. After using the NYC make up pencil I found in portia's kit (& one of which i later bought for myself when I found the brand coming out at the local drugstore) I'm never going back to cream+brush for black lines ;) controlled detail AND a stark black line... melikes... & The make up didn't show up well in the photos, bah, so I drew up make up chrt of what it DID loook like after the fact...
